Multi-Species fishing tournament
set for June 5-7, 2009
What do you call a fishing tournament where everyone's
a winner, even people that don't fish in the tournament? You
call it the First Annual Multi-Species Fishing Benefit. Scheduled
for June 5 - 7, it's a tournament with a twist. The event is
modeled after an annual hunting contest sponsored by Hunt4Hunger.
People that enter the tournament have a chance at prize money
and they will be helping feed those less fortunate.
The tournament will be headquartered at Eisenhower
State Park at Melvern Lake, but anglers will be able to fish
anywhere and then weigh their fish in at the park. Guidelines
and the scoring system for the event are shown below.
The organization is offering a prize of up to $500
for first place, up to $400 for second and $300 for third based
on the number of teams entered. Entry fees are $60 per two person
team or $50 and 10 canned goods.
All fish will be cleaned and donated to the Salvation
Army in Emporia along with the canned goods.
There will be an awards dinner on Sunday, after
check-in is complete, at Eisenhower State Park. Prizes and awards
will be handed out at that time.
For more information, you may email hunt4hungeronline@yahoo.com
or visit the website.
The group is also looking for sponsors and prizes for the event.
