Feb. 24 meeting will discuss Wilson Lake Reallocation Study - Anglers encouraged to attend
Feb. 17, 2010 (from email sent to Kansas Angler Online) - An important meeting that may have ramifications on the current and future fishing located at Wilson Lake in North Central Kansas is scheduled for February 24.
The Wilson Lake Reallocation Study public comment meeting is scheduled for February 24 at 6:30 pm at the Russell High School Gymnasium in Russell Kansas. The intent by the Corps of Engineers is to determine if millions of gallons of water should be withdrawn annually from the lake to serve the municipal and industrial water needs for larger cities in Kansas. The plan includes pretreatment and reverse osmosis of the water to be withdrawn with the byproducts of that treatment processes discharged back into the lake.
Every person associated with this pristine and beautiful lake has a stake in this decision. From home owners to campers, and from fishermen to trail bikers, we all stand to lose should this become a reality.
You are invited to attend this important meeting and you are encouraged to research the water withdrawal plans what the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is considering (usace.army.mil).
If you are among the thousands of people who have come to love Wilson Lake for its beauty and have concerns about the impact the withdrawal of water may have on this treasure in north central Kansas, please attend this meeting,
February 24, 2010, 6:30 pm Russell High School Gymnasium, Russell, Kansas.
