WORLD'S TOP PRO ANGLERS HEAD
TO MILFORD RESERVOIR
World Series of Walleye Fishing comes to Kansas
August 27, 2005 - JUNCTION CITY -- After 15 years
of successful walleye tournaments throughout the United States,
the In-Fisherman Professional Walleye Trail (PWT) has announced
a Kansas tournament. The world's top walleye anglers will come
to Milford Reservoir, near Junction City, on Sept. 16-18.
"Kansas will get the World Series of Walleye
Fishing, the PWT Mercury Championship," said Jim Kalkofen,
PWT executive director. "The championship is the ultimate
survival test after competing all year long on the tour, and
only the pros who performed at the top of their games will be
invited."
Pro anglers will fish with an observer present
for a cash purse in excess of $315,000.
Milford Reservoir is the largest lake in the state,
with163 miles of shoreline, and is well known for its trophy
walleye, smallmouth bass, and channel and blue catfish. In addition,
the lake has a very strong population of wipers, white bass,
largemouth bass, and crappie. Located in the Flint Hills of Kansas,
the primary structure is rock, with some standing trees in the
major creeks and coves.
