Kansas angler being sought to
help promote new tournament trail
Kansas "Jayhawk" division
has been added to ESPN Outdoors Bassmaster Series for 2006
December 6, 2005 - Editor's note: If you are
interested in helping promote the new Bassmaster Jayhawk division
and fish all four tournaments, email Jim
Zeiner or by calling him at 316-265-5551 to get contact information
for the director of the new division. He wants someone to distribute
brochures on the circuit and promises to make it worthwhile,
but he needs someone who plans to fish all four events. For those
of you that haven't heard about it yet, here is more information.
If you are interested in learning more, you
will be able to pick up brochures at Zeiner's Angler Supply in Wichita
in a few days.

Background Story from when the ESPN Outdoors
Bassmaster Series was first started
Bassmaster Series expands in 2006
Local anglers receive 40 additional weekend
tournaments
CELEBRATION, Fla. - Anglers who fish in the ESPN Outdoors Bassmaster
Series in 2006 should be prepared for more opportunity on the
water and bigger prize purses.
Next year, BASS is increasing to six the number of regions
and increasing to five the number of divisions in the ESPN Outdoors
Bassmaster Series. Each division will now have four tournaments
instead of five. The changes mean another 40 one-day tournaments
for total of 120. And because they stretch from Texas to Maine,
BASS will reach more local anglers than ever before.
The divisional tournaments will continue to host 200 boaters
and non-boaters each and the top 30 boaters and non-boaters in
each division advance to the regional tournament, where the field
will be narrowed to the top eight. Those eight boaters and non-boaters
from each region will advance to the ESPN Outdoors Bassmaster
Series National Championship whose winner will advance to the
2007 CITGO Bassmaster Classic.
"We are very excited about the ESPN Outdoors Bassmaster
Series for 2006," said Bruce Mathis, director of ESPN Outdoors
Bassmaster Series and the Women's Bassmaster Tour. "Based
on the feedback we received from anglers throughout the 2005
season, we have expanded our schedule to cover a much larger
area of the country and reach an even greater number of anglers."
With more opportunity comes a larger prize purse. Boaters
and non-boaters will compete for a total prize purse of $55,055
in cash and merchandise at each event, including a $7,500 boater
top prize and $3,750 non-boater top prize. Overall, BASS will
pay 30 percent of the field in 2006, up from 20 percent in 2005.
Additionally, BASS is enhancing its shared-weight program between
boaters and non-boaters in the Series. In 2006, non-boaters will
need to catch at least one bass to be eligible to share the weight
of their boaters. "We listened to angler feedback and they
indicated the importance of this new standard," Mathis said.
Plus, a second-chance tournament will be offered to those
anglers who paid to fish in all four one-day tournaments in their
division, but did not qualify for the regional tournament. The
top eight boaters and non-boaters from the second-chance tournament
also will advance to the National Championship and have a chance
to qualify for the 2007 CITGO Bassmaster Classic.
Boater entry fees in 2006 will be $250 for each tournament.
Non-boater entry fees will be $125.

2006 ESPN Outdoors Bassmaster Series FAQ
Q1. What is the schedule for entries into the weekend series
tournaments?
Answer: From November 21 29, 2005 there will be a priority
entry for BASS Federation members, BASS Insider members, BASS
Life members, Triton Boat owners and Mercury engine owners who
sign up for all four events in a division. Beginning November
30, 2005, we'll offer priority entry for other BASS members who
sign up for all four events in a division. Beginning December
15, 2005, we'll open registration to anyone entering single or
multiple events.
Q2. Do I have to register for all the events in a division?
Answer: During the priority registration periods, you must
enter all four events in a division. Beginning on December 15,
2005, you may enter single events.
Q3. Can I register for more than one division?
Answer: Yes, you can enter as many divisions as you wish.
Remember that the regional events for different divisions may
be on the same dates.
Q4. When can I register for single events?
Answer: Single event registration begins December 15, 2005.
Q5. Do I have to register on line?
Answer: Registration may be done online or by telephone. Online
registration is recommended in order to avoid long waiting times
on the telephone.
Q6. What is a member name and password?
Answer: Each person registering for an event must establish
a member name and password to access the registration pages online
if you don't already have one established.
Q7. How do I sign up with a nonboater (boater) for guaranteed
entry?
Answer: If you register by telephone ask us to link you to
each other. You will be able to link yourselves online. If you
find someone to link to after you have registered, just call
in and ask us to link you together.
Q8. What if my BASS membership expires before the season
is over?
Answer: You will need to extend your membership past the date
of the last tournament you are entering. You should do so online
to make sure your expiration date is extended immediately.
Q9. What if I don't have a computer?
Answer: Ask a friend, relative or neighbor who has a computer
if you can enter on their computer. You might also be able to
use a computer at work or at your local library. If none of that
works for you, you may call in your entries.
Q10. How do I register more than one person on the same
computer?
Answer: You must clear your browser and enter the other person's
username and password. Two anglers will not be able to register
under the same username and password.
